STARLA SMITH for Theater Week

Whether DeForest is playing in a crowded smoke-filled club or a room full of bejeweled cafe sophisticates, cost-effective executives, strident yuppies or dear friends, he is the consummate singer/pianist.  Composers come to hear DeForest because he has a magical way with a lyric.  Many of his beautiful ballads are his own compositions.  He is my very favorite chanteur.

JOHN MICHAEL KOROLY, Fine Arts Review

If Charles DeForest were a magazine, he'd be the New Yorker.  As a singer, he makes his readings of lyrics just dramatic enough to be gloriously sentimental without ever a suggestion of maudlin. His keyboard stylings have melodic sweep and flourish, matching his baritone caressings.
